Danny O'Brien of addresses storm recovery and telecommunications during his visits around Gippsland
Last week, The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien, addressed storm recovery, roads, environmental protection, nuclear energy, wild dog management, broiler farms, and telecommunications during visits to local communities.
Issues including storm recovery, roads, environmental protection, nuclear energy, wild dog management, broiler farms and telecommunications were on the agenda last week as The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien, visited local communities to hear their concerns firsthand.
Danny O'Brien valued meeting locals with concerns or opinions, emphasising democracy's essence: representatives hearing constituents, promising continued accessibility
Community outreach tour
Mr O'Brien visited Boolarra, Yinnar, Yinnar South, Toongabbie, Cowwarr and Nambrok for his regular mobile office appointments with local constituents. "I believe it is important that I make myself available as often as possible to local people in their community, not just in my office somewhere, so that I can hear the issues that are affecting people and help them deal with state government problems."
"It was great to be able to meet with concerned locals face-to-face and I now have a number of items that I will be following up. The storm damage and subsequent recovery was a particularly hot topic in Boolarra South and I will continue to be vocal in my disappointment that the state government has not done more to financially assist impacted farmers," he said.
Local connection campaign
Mr O'Brien said it was also good to meet with people who simply had issues they wanted to make him aware of or share their views on with him and thanked his hosts at Cafe 3869 in Yinnar for providing the venue for many of his appointments.
"This is a critical part of our democracy - to make sure the local representative hears from the people. I will continue to get out into local communities and make myself available to my constituents as often as I can."
"Residents of Korumburra, Arawata, Jeetho and Kongwak should already have received a letter advising of my impending visit and Leongatha, Ruby and Leongatha South residents should keep an eye on their letter box," Mr O'Brien said.
