‘Making money, while having fun – the occupational sociology of PR’ will be presented by Joseph Peart, Program Leader, Public Relations and Communications, Auckland University of Technology on Thursday, August 3 at the Gippsland Campus. The lecture will trace the nature of a profession, how public relations fits the necessary criteria, what it must do to become a profession or whether it even wants to.

An expected 150 Principals from Primary and Secondary schools across Gippsland are coming to the Gippsland Campus on July 14 to discuss ways schools and the university can work closer together to improve outcomes for their students.

• Making the Grade

On Thursday, July 13 approximately 30 international students will be introduced to their personal mentors. These mentors are current Monash students who have undergone extensive training to be equipped to assist new students with a range of issues. Students will learn about the Australian culture and lifestyle through interactive sessions as well as the opportunity to sample some traditional Aussie tucker.


The Southern Yangtze University Program launch will be held on Monday, July 17 at the Gippsland Campus. The program will see community members assisting with the involvement of Chinese students in family and community life and expand their experiences beyond the University exploring the environment and attending community events.

On Thursday, July 13, 170 Year 10 students from Lowanna College will visit the campus as part of the Schools Access Monash (SAM) program for a Transition Information Day. On the day, students will be visiting the various faculties of the campus, learning more about GippsTAFE and GGT, participating in transition workshops, and hearing from ex-Lowanna students currently studying at Monash Gippsland.

Ray Beebe from the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering will be presenting two papers at the 1st World Congress in Engineering Asset Management at the Gold Coast this week. Ray will also be running a workshop and as a national councillor of Asset Management Council will be taking part in the annual Council meeting.
