Special exhibition tour for Father’s Day at the GalleryOn Sunday 4 September children, fathers and grandfathers will all have the opportunity to enjoy a special Father’s Day event at Latrobe Regional Gallery with a tour and activity for children. By Latrobe City Council - 30th August 2005 - Back to News Gallery Director, Louise Tegart said that the tour would highlight the exhibition, ‘Land Marks: The environment etched in Australian children’s literature’, which features over 40 artworks from Australian children’s book illustrators.
"This exhibition is on tour from the Dromkeen Museum and Gallery in Riddells Creek and is a delightful view into the world of classic Australian children’s books.
"The works combine to inspire viewers to respect, celebrate and be thoughtful of the Australian environment. The authors and illustrators in the exhibition have embraced the picture book as a vehicle for bringing the Australian environment up close and into the hands of the reader. Each book is a celebration of the beauty of the Australian landscape and its animals. The creators also aim to further develop our understanding and appreciation of the environment and man’s impact upon it," Ms Tegart explained.
"We believe the display will also appeal to all ages, and visitors can also enjoy the other exhibitions currently on display at the Gallery," Ms Tegart concluded.
The tour and activity begin at 2pm and both are free.
Fathers and their families are also welcome to enjoy a Father’s Day menu at a special Father’s Day price at the t@g café. Bookings for lunch can be made on 5133 0379.
The Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, and on weekends 11am to 4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. For further information about exhibitions at the gallery, please telephone 5128 5700. Entry is free.
