Bass Coast Gets Carolling

Bass Coast will sing in the festive season, with carols nights at five different locations in December.

Council’s Community Safety Manager, Philippa O’Halloran, said the community fireworks at Cowes would add a real spark to the Christmas Events calendar.

"There will be no fireworks in Cowes on New Years Eve, instead they will be held at Carols by the Bay on Tuesday, 21 December," said Mrs O’Halloran.

"Carol evenings across the Shire are organised by the local community for the local community and really are about sharing the Christmas spirit.

"Some of the nights include sausage sizzles, fun activities for the children and even a special appearance by Santa!"

Mrs O’Halloran said the carols nights were getting more popular each year.

"We do expect the crowds to increase again this year, so if you are planning on attending, allow yourself a little extra time," advised Mrs O’Halloran.

Carols will be held on:

  • 14 December – 6.30pm BBQ, 7.00pm start: Carols by Candlelight San Remo, San Remo Foreshore.
  • 18 December – 6.00pm-10.00pm: Carols on the Foreshore, Corinella foreshore (Cnr Peters St & The Esplanade).
  • 21 December – 7.30pm: Inverloch Community Carols, Community Hall at the Inverloch Hub
  • 21 December – 7.45pm to 9.30pm: Carols by the Bay, Cowes Foreshore, The Esplanade (children’s activities from 5.00pm with the fireworks display at 9.30pm)
  • 19 December – 6.30pm BBQ, Carols start at 8.00pm: Carols by Candlelight, Wishart Reserve, Mc Bride Avenue, Wonthaggi.

Like many community events over the summer, the carols crowds could also have an impact on traffic in the area.

"Our advice right across this summer season is to plan your trip, as event crowds can mean much more traffic in the local area," said Mrs O’Halloran.

"We also ask anyone going along to this, or any event, to ‘Enjoy it, Don’t spoil it’.
