Students $165m worse off under Daniel AndrewsDaniel Andrews has ripped more than $160 million from training in the past 12 months. By Portal Admin - 8th February 2017 - Back to News The Productivity Commission Report on Government Services shows the Andrews Government cut $165.3 million from VET in 2015.
Daniel Andrews promised to 'rescue' TAFE, but instead he has taken the axe to Victoria’s training budget.
Data from the government’s own Training Market Report also shows Victorian students are turning away from the training system in droves.
Since December 2014 the number of students enrolled in training in Victoria has dropped 45.3 per cent, from 443,687 to 243,000 in June 2016.
Despite committing to no staff redundancies, TAFE staff numbers declined 6.5 per cent in a year.

Daniel Andrews should hit the books himself if he thinks cutting $165 million from training is going to help young people find a job.
The Andrews Government has slashed investment, while at the same time expecting TAFEs and training organisations invest time and staff hours adopting Labor’s Skills First scheme.
Daniel Andrews' claims of a TAFE 'rescue' are an absolute farce and it’s Victorian students who are paying the price.
Under Labor, Victoria’s training system is weaker, not stronger.
