Camel Races Return To The Maffra ShowA galloping success last year, the ‘Camel Races’ are coming back for the 2004 Maffra Show on October 23rd. By Maffra & District Agricultural Society - 19th August 2004 - Back to News The 6 race event has 5 camels in each race and is run as part of the Show’s night carnival program.
Keenly supported, local businesses or groups buy a seat and supply there own rider and handler. The winners of the 1st five races then compete for the ‘ The Maffra Camel Cup’ in the 6th race.
Winner in 2003 was – AJM Fencing – Rider Aaron Mawhinney & Handler – Hugh Mawhinney.
The Camel Races provided great fun and amusement for participants and spectators alike so we are all looking forward to the 2004 Show
