The army students work in the 3rd Recovery Company, which involves them going out onto the battlefields in mobile recovery vehicles that pull out tanks and other vehicles. "The course was a vital part of their training for their job in the army, with all students given a certificate of competency for safe work performance," said Mr Newey. GippsTAFE has run the program once before with the army, receiving an award for outstanding delivery of the course. There was also excellent feedback from students that completed both of the courses. "There is definitely more opportunities to do more training in conjunction with the army, especially in Rigging and Dogging as it covers some aspects of what they have to do in the battlefield." Mr Newey concluded. For more information on GippsTAFE’s Dogging courses, please contact the Construction and Safety Department on 5127 0277 or visit www.gippstafe.vic.edu.au.
