April Meeting:
Present at the April meeting were Jenny Cummings of the Berry Street Organization; Rod Forrer who is Regional housing Manager, Office of Housing, Dept. of Human Services; and Christine Leth, Manager ,Placement and Support, D.H.S.
Many questions concerning the behaviour of some of the tenants in government and Berry St. housing were raised. Residents are now advised to report any issues to the appropriate authority.
For complaints regarding tenants at the Berry Street unit, ring the unit staff on 5134 5872. If you do not receive a satisfactory response, ring Jenny Cummings or Andres Pineta at the Berry St. office during office hours on 5134 5971. Failing that ring Christine Leth at D.H.S. on 5136 2400.
For Public Housing issues, contact Rod Forrer, at Department of Human Services on 5136 2400, Email: morwell@ dhs.vic.gov.au or write PO box 306, Morwell 3840.
To help sort out problems of concern, residents are advised to make a note of the nature of incident stating the location, time and date, and the people involved.
Increased Police Presence:
Senior Sergeant, Ricky Ross of the Victoria Police, informed the meeting that there had been a number of police officers appointed to the Bridle Estate to enhance Community Safety and reduce the incidence of crime. The officers appointed are:
Sergeants Madin and Passalaqua.
Leading Senior Constables Blakely and Jobson.
Senior Constable Moore.
Constables Barter, Barcon, Muir, Winters and Caple
Safety Assessment:
Henk Harberts from Latrobe City Community Safety Promotion, spoke at the meeting on the Neighbourhood Safety Assessment, that he plans to conduct on the Bridle Estate. This will be discussed further at the May meeting. Interested residents can accompany Henk to areas in our neighbourhood where there is a perceived danger. This Safety Walk will take place on Friday 20th of May starting at 7.30pm from the Salvation Army Hall, Bridle Road.
Police Concert: The Neighbourhood Watch Concert featuring the Victoria Police Showband and the Victoria Police Pipe Band will be held in Kernot Hall at 7.30pm on 15th June 2005. The tickets are $6.00 each and can be obtained from Carmen on 5134 1920. There are less tickets available this year so get in early. These concerts are always entertaining. Last years concert was considered one of the best!
