Precautions For Home Security When On Holidays:· Cancel newspaper deliveries. Arrange for someone to collect your mail and "junk mail" . have someone mow your lawn and keep your house exterior tidy.· Use timing switches for lights and radios, keep blinds and curtains open. Make the house look lived in.· Let relatives and trusted neighbours know where you are going and for how long you will be absent. Always leave a contact address and phone number. Most important obtain an "Absence from Residence" form from the Police Station, or Zone Leader, fill it in and leave it at the Police Station.Party Safe:Are you going to host a party? There’s nothing more Australian than a summer party, or BBQ. A party can be thoroughly ruined by gatecrashers and the misbehaviour of guests. Being prepared is the first rule of hosting the perfect party. You can help to make your social occasion run smoothly by registering the event with the local police on the PartySafe register. The register is aimed at reducing the incidence of gate crashing and anti social behaviour at parties and social functions. All you need to do is fill in the PartySafe registration form available from your local police station, and return it at least one week before your party is being held. The registration form and poster and other material can also be downloaded and printed from the Neighbourhood Watch website. Go to www.neighbourhoodwatch.com.au click on the Latest News, scroll down to Party Safe. UV ProtectionSummer is the season to get outdoors and enjoy the warm days, but it’s also the season when the sun’s rays are harshest on your skin. Australia has clear skies, high UV levels, a mainly fair skinned population, and the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. You need to protect yourself from the sun. Avoid the summer sun during the middle of the day if you can. Cover up with a shirt hat and sunglasses. Put sunscreen on exposed skin. Water resistant sunscreens are important if your swimming, because UVR penetrates water for up to one metre. Re-apply the sunscreen every two hours and after each swim. Use enough, a lot of people don’t, at least six teaspoons are needed for the whole body. Apply the sunscreen twenty minutes before you plan to go out and once again just before you go. This gives the sunscreen for the sunscreen to bond with your skin. Don’t rub it into your skin it should glide on like a coat of paint. Throw away sunscreens that are past their expiry date. Pacifier Danger:A six month old baby was found choking on a dummy that had worked its way fully into the baby’s mouth. If a dummy is used for a young baby make sure it complies with the Australian standard. Use a dummy with a large enough shield to prevent it being drawn fully into the mouth. Remember, babies have never choked on their thumbs.Police Crime Report For November 2005, NHW Area LTB1, Bridle EstateTo Privacy Considerations NOT ALL Offences For This Area Are Listed
