Get Ready For The F‘Ewe’Ture And Maintain MomentumThe 2009 BESTWOOL/BEST LAMB (BWBL) conference, Feweture Farming – Maintaining the Momentum will be held in Bendigo on June 18 2009. By Department of Primary Industries - 12th June 2009 - Back to News The BWBL conference is an excellent opportunity for sheep producers to share and discuss latest research and new developments in the sheep industry.
BWBL Program Manager Lyndon Kubeil said the conference features an excellent and diverse line-up of guest speakers and interactive sessions.
"Producers will come away from the conference with new ideas and information that can readily be used on-farm," Mr Kubeil said.
Rob Banks from Meat and Livestock Australia genetics program, Paul Swan from Australian Wool Innovation and University of Melbourne Associate Professor for Production Animal Management and Welfare Andrew Fisher will speak at the conference and share their insights into what the future holds for the sheep industry.
Ten interactive sessions will also be offered at the conference and participants will be able to select six in which to attend. They include:
- Impact and economics of sheep in a no till cropping system with Cam Nicholson
- Identifying the cause of lamb deaths with David Rendell.
- Capturing sheep performance using Electronic Identification - making genetic progress within flock with Charlie de Fegely and Mark Copeland.
- Analysing the economics of lamb finishing with Gary Hallam.
- Improving the density of drought affected pastures, how to fill the bare spaces with Lisa Warn.
- Parasites, new drench coming? Eradicating lice; is it possible? with David Rendell.
- Rotational grazing management - what to monitor to make it work for you with Graeme Hand.
- Feeding efficiency, getting 20 miles/gallon from your lambs with Nick Linden
- Integrated pest management with Cam Nicholson.
- Making sure pregnancy scanning ewes pays with Jason Trompf.
Admission to the Feweture Farming – Maintaining the Momentum conference is FREE to BWBL group members, $30 for BWBL associate members and $50 for general admission. Non-members will be offered the opportunity to join BWBL as an associate member free on the day and pay only $30.
Attendees also have the opportunity to listen to 2006 Nuffield Scholar winner David Jochinke while enjoying a three course meal at a pre-conference dinner.
