A free information session for the Work USA international exchange program is being held on Wednesday 18th May at 6 pm in Room 2E101. Monash students are regularly given the opportunity to study abroad.

‘Rebuilding Tourism in the Alpine Area After the Fires’ is the title of the School of Applied Science and Engineering Seminar to be held at the Gippsland Campus on Wednesday, May 25 from 1-2pm in Room 5N104. Dianne is Manager, Tourism Partnerships with Parks Victoria and a member of the Minister’s Council for the National Environment Protection and Heritage Council.

To connect nursing graduates with employers, the Faculty of Nursing at Gippsland Campus is holding a graduate information day on Monday, May 30. More than 20 Melbourne and local hospitals are sending representatives to speak to third year students with the intention of hiring them to help meet the nursing shortages.

Making the Grade

Recent market research conducted by Gippsland Research and Information Service shows that Gippsland graduates have a much higher percentage of bachelor graduates in full-time employment than other Australian universities. The campus overall has as much as 10 per cent higher employment rates than the Australian average. Graduates from civil engineering, education and chemistry have 100 per cent employment, while nursing has 99 per cent employment.

The Faculty of Business and Economics will be presenting a full scholarship to the top Young Achievers Award team at the Federation Health Gippsland Business Awards on May 27. The winning team will be announced at the event and will be awarded the prize by Adela McMurray from the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Associate Professor Harry Ballis and Associate Professor Lindsay Fitzclarence presented the Baw Baw Shire Council/Monash University Gippsland Scholarship worth $3000 to Laura Calway on May 11. Ms. Calway, who is former school captain at Chairo Christian School in Drouin is in the first year of her double degree in Arts and Education at Monash University Gippsland Campus. The presentation took place at the Baw Baw Shire offices.
