Grantville seawall up for repairs Ageing and wave damaged sea walls are up for repair. By Portal Admin - 1st February 2021 - Back to News The seawall at the end of Pier Road in Grantville is being renewed as part of Bass Coast Shire Council’s Capital Works Program. Construction works have begun, with the project expected to take around seven weeks to complete, subject to weather, tides and contractor availability. This $120,000 project is fully funded by Council. Construction works will start the week of 22 January 2021 and completion is anticipated within 7 weeks, subject to favourable weather, tides and contractor availability
Seawall improvement to protect public assetsThese works are being carried out as the existing concrete seawall is ageing and over time, has suffered damage from wave action. The seawall offers protection from wave erosion to important public assets, including the nearby foreshore picnic and barbecue area, grassed open space and public car parking. Works to repair the seawall will also include improved beach access steps, a new beach shower and some landscaping with native plants. Nearby residents to expect inconveniencesFor safety reasons, the project area will become a construction zone for the duration of the works and appropriate traffic and pedestrian measures will be in place. The works will include the use of large plant and machinery and might be noisy at times. Council understands that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby residents and appreciates their patience during these times. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
