Accredited Psychology will be offered on campus at Gippsland from 2006. Professor Brian Mackenzie, Deputy to PVC, Associate Professor Harry Ballis and Professor Grahame Coleman, Head, School of Psychology, Psychiatry & Psychological Medicine have had extensive discussions on the importance of reintroducing Psychology to the Gippsland campus. Psychology is a high demand program among students and we are thrilled with this outcome. The return of Psychology is the first of an anticipated series of prestige courses to be introduced to the Gippsland Campus.

Monash University is holding its Open Day this weekend. On Saturday, August 6 you can visit the Gippsland, Peninsula and Parkville Campuses and on Sunday, August 7, Clayton, Caulfield and Berwick between 10am and 4pm. Everything a prospective student needs to know about studying and living at the Gippsland Campus will be available on Saturday, August 6.

‘Looking for light in the murk’ is the title of the next iThink forum to be presented by Mr Chris Galloway, Journalism Lecturer from the School of Humanities, Communications and Social Sciences on August 9 at the Gippsland Campus.

‘Union Joining and Union Exiting: An Event History Analysis’ will be presented by Dr Donna Buttigieg, Department of Management at the Business & Economics Academic Exchange Forum on Tuesday, August 2 at 1pm. Dr Buttigieg will examine parallel models of union joining and leaving using data of 3594 employees. The study finds support for three theories (frustration-aggression, interactionist, and rational choice) used to explain joining behaviour but does not necessarily mean that exits are determined by the same factors as joining. The implications of these findings for theory and practice for trade unions will also be discussed.
