Opening Ceremony Bass Coast StyleBass Coast is celebrating the start of the Commonwealth Games with a series of activities across the Shire. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 14th March 2006 - Back to News Corinella gets an early start with a Fun Bike Ride this Saturday 11 March, commencing at 10am. At the completion of the course, riders will be treated to a sausage sizzle at Hughes Reserve. Festivities continue into the evening with a Commonwealth Games Family Cabaret at the Corinella Community Hall, commencing at 8pm.
The Phillip Island Leisure Centre is offering a chance to win tickets to the Games. Simply drop by the Centre and hand in your business card (or fill out one at the Centre), then be there at 7.15 pm on Wednesday 15 March for the prize draw. Refreshments and a big screen for watching the Opening Ceremony will be provided. Wonthaggi will also be operating a big screen for watching the Opening Ceremony. From 3 pm in Apex Park there will an array of entertainment, including children’s games, an animal farm, jumping castle and a sausage sizzle. A fireworks display is set to coincide with the Australian team entering the MCG, at approximately 8.30 pm.
