Baw Baw Council meeting snapshot - Wednesday 11 October 2023
Council reviewed permits, addressed safety concerns, approved financial reports, updated delegations, thanked emergency services, and invited public participation via live-streamed meetings.
To keep our community up to date with key council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from council's Wednesday 11 October Council Meeting.
On October 11, the council addressed planning permits for two locations, acknowledged public safety concerns about unauthorised structures in response to a petition, approved financial reports, updated delegations, and expressed gratitude to emergency services
Planning and development
PLA066/22 - 112 Orchard Road, Trafalgar
Council moved an alternate recommendation to approve the planning permit with conditions.
PLA0214/22 - Lardners Track, Lardner
Council moved an alternate recommendation to approve the planning permit with conditions.
Community infrastructure
Petition Response - Help Bring Back Mountain Bike Jumps for Children in the Chesterfield Park Estate
Council acknowledged the public safety risk of unauthorised structures on council land and endorsed the process to assess and remove such structures. Petitioners were encouraged to get involved with the Open Space Strategy and provide feedback on council's open spaces through the consultation process.

Financial Report and Performance Statement for the year ending 30 June 2023
Council approved the Annual Financial Report for the year ending 30 June 2023, and Performance Statement for the 2022-23 financial year following the endorsement from the Audit Committee. Two councillors were nominated to be authorised to sign each statement in their final form.

Delegation review and update
Council, in the exercise of the power conferred by section 11(1)(b) of the Local Government Act 2020, resolved that:
- There be delegated to the person holding the position, or acting in performing the duties, of Chief Executive Officer the powers, duties and functions set out in the Instrument of Delegation to the Chief Executive Officer, subject to the conditions and limitations specified in that Instrument
- The instrument comes into force immediately upon this resolution being made
- On the coming into force of the Instrument all previous delegations to the Chief Executive Officer are revoked
- The duties and functions set out in the Instrument must be performed, and the powers set out in the instrument must be executed, in accordance with any guidelines or policies of council that it may from time to time adopt
Mayoral minute
Mayor McCabe used the Mayoral Minute to thank the emergency services personnel for their efforts in Rawson and surrounds in keeping our community safe. She also acknowledged the work of the many Officers who brought all the information together for the Annual Financial Report and the Performance Statement, which paint a picture of council's activity over the last financial year.
Baw Baw Shire Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, beginning at 5:30pm All council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the council website for viewing. The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
