Mid Irrigation Efficiency

Grants are being offered through the Macalister Irrigation District (MID) Irrigation Efficiency Incentive program.

By Department Of Primary Industries - 17th September 2010 - Back to News

Incentives will be available to assist landholders with irrigation

farm planning, the construction of re-use systems and the

conversion of surface (flood) irrigation to spray irrigation.

Funding is available for new irrigation projects and all MID

irrigators are encouraged to apply. Available funding is

allocated through a prioritisation process.

On-farm projects are funded by the Victorian Government and

the Australian Government's Caring for our Country Program

aimed at:

1. Improving water quality to protect the health of the

Gippsland Lakes.

2. Improving water-use efficiency and reducing nutrient runoff.

3. Minimising problems associated with waterlogging and

salinity.

4. Supporting an increasingly productive irrigation sector with

reduced impacts to the environment and public assets.

Applications will open on October 4 and close November 4,

2010.
