The Monash University Careers and Employment Expo will be held on Wednesday, September 15 from 12noon until 3pm at the Gippsland Campus. This day is invaluable to students who find out more about general areas of employment and in gaining confidence to speak to potential employers.

Information sessions on the innovative one year part-time Graduate Certificate in Regional Community Development will be held at the Gippsland Campus on September 15 from 10am -12noon and at the Bruthen Market in East Gippsland on September 24 from 11.30am-1pm. The Graduate Certificate, offered through the Gippsland Campus, is designed for regionally-based workers with responsibility to engage with community groups and features a systematic approach to engage, skill and resource community groups.

Students interested in studying in another country as part of their Monash experience are invited to a presentation by David Pearce from Monash Abroad on Thursday, September 8 at 1 pm in the Business and Economics Conference Room.

Mr Pearce will discuss various international opportunities available to Gippsland students.

Making the Grade

The new Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) at Gippsland is expected to help ease the pressure of Victorian and Gippsland teacher shortages. This full-time, one year program, on offer at the Gippsland Campus for the first time in 2006, enables prospective students who have already completed an undergraduate degree to establish a broad conceptual understanding of the field of education and the specifics of classroom teaching. Information on the new course can be obtained from VTAC or the Faculty of Education at the Gippsland Campus.

Associate Professor Harry Ballis was appointed Executive Director to the Gippsland Education Precinct last week by the Board of the Gippsland Education Precinct (GEP). Associate Professor Ballis will put together a structure and set strategic directions to ensure the GEP achieves its vision.

Open Subject

"You are my Heart’s Delight" is the title of the next free lunchtime concert to be performed by Peter Mander (vocal) and Teresa Lavers (piano) at the Gippsland Campus on September 6 at 1pm in the Hexagon. A program of love songs spanning four centuries, including music from Handel, Beethoven, Rogers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
