Callignee South Road

A temporary five tonne load limit will apply to the Callignee South Road until flood damage can be repaired.

By Wellington Shire Council - 20th August 2003 - Back to News

Wellington Shire Council is erecting signage highlighting the temporary changes to Callignee South Road between Duncan’s and Thexton’s roads at Callignee South.

Council has secured "Natural Disaster Funding" from the State Government to repair this section of the road. It is hoped all works will be finished by early next year.

Chief Executive Lyndon Webb said Council staff would continue regular inspections of the site to monitor any deterioration and ensure safety controls remain in place.

"We have consulted with key users of the road, including local farmers, and have advertised in a range of local media to alert residents of the temporary change," he said

"Access is still possible to all properties in the area, but where local deliveries exceed the limit an alternative access route via Mount Tassie will have to be used."

Advance warning signs have been erected at the Callignee South Road intersections of South,

Gormandale, Callignee, Thexton’s and Duncan’s roads indicating the temporary load limit.
