Demand for Jobseekers with Computer SkillsGippsTAFE’s Business Studies Department is currently offering courses in Office Administration, Retail, Accounting, Human Resources, and Business Management. By GippsTafe - 7th July 2003 - Back to News Judy Duryea from Employment Innovations Victoria (EIV) in Moe says that there is a great demand for people with these skills, especially for people with updated bookkeeping and payroll skills.
"There is also a demand for people with knowledge in Quickbooks, it is a software program that not many people are up with."
Ms Duryea suggested that mature aged people that are currently re-entering the workforce do not have many computer skills and their prospects could improve by upskilling and doing a computer course.
"Many job seekers that come through know how to do manual payroll but really need to improve their knowledge of new computer software and computers in general."
The Business Studies Department are now offering Certificate II and III in Office Administration, Certificate III in Retail Operations, Webpage Design, Certificate III Financial Services (Accounts Clerical), Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting), Computer Hardware for Home PC Users, Home Networking, Microsoft Networking Course, Visual Basic Programming – Introduction, Certificate IV Business (Small Business Management), Certificate IV Business (Human Resources), Diploma in Business (Human Resources), Certificate IV in Business (Management), Train Small Groups, and the Police Entrance Examination Prepatory Program.
For more information on any Business Studies course, please contact Nola Marmara on 5127 0281 (9.00am-12.00pm) or email business@gippstafe.vic.edu.au.
