Dargo-White Timber Spur Fire

DSE crews are blacking out the eastern side of the Dargo-White Timber Spur fire.

The Dargo High Plains road remains closed to traffic.

Parks Victoria and DSE are asking people to refrain from travelling into the Alpine National Park and adjoining State Forest.

Walking tracks, day visitor sites, camping areas, roads and four-wheel-drive tracks in the area south of Hotham Heights, Dinner Plain and Cobungra have been closed to the public, in particular Birregan Road, Dinner Plain Track, Victoria River Road and King Spur Track.

Core Advice

  • There may be increased amounts of smoke in the area from this fire.
  • Road users are advised to take extra care as road travel may be hazardous due to low visibility from smoke.
  • Even though this fire does not currently pose a threat, people in high risk bushfire areas are reminded to have a bushfire survival plan ready to implement during the summer period.
  • Continue to listen to ABC radio (828 am or 105.5 FM or 90.7 FM) Note that ABC 100.7 is out of service until further notice.

  • Road closures currently in place: The Dargo High Plains Road is closed 3 kilometres north of the Dargo township and at the intersection of the Great Alpine Road and the Dargo High Plains Road.
  • Resources committed to these fires: 2 slip-on units: 2 dozers: 1 aircraft: 11 personnel
