Top Marks for GippsTAFE Aged Care GippsTAFE earns top marks in strategic industry audit By Eimear McNelis - 10th April 2002 - Back to News GippsTAFE has recently earned top marks in a strategic industry audit of aged care training at the Warragul and Yallourn campuses, receiving excellent results.
An state government education auditor reviewed quality assurance policies and procedures, regulatory and statutory requirements, student life cycle records and other administrative requirements while an industry expert toured facilities and interviewed staff and students regarding delivery and assessment strategies.
GippsTAFE staff took a positive approach to the audit and indicated that it was a valuable experience for them, which has prompted a lot of discussion and ideas already.
GippsTAFE is one of seven Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) involved in the audit and has received excellent feedback from the auditors who were impressed with the facilities and high standard of training from GippsaTAFE’s dedicated and committed staff.
The auditors are also looking at aged care facilities within Gippsland where the staff had been trained by GippsTAFE.
GippsTAFE offers Certificate III in Community Services (Aged Care Work) at the Yallourn, Warragul and Leongatha campuses, which offers initial vocational training in the skills, knowledge and attitudes essential for effective delivery of services to the aged.
Topics covered in the course include orientation to aged care work, processing and providing information, participation in the work environment, delivering services to clients, communicating appropriately with clients and colleagues and assisting with aged peoples’ personal needs.
