A valuable program for disabled youth

Learn about roadies - what it is and how you can be involved

By Vananir Violet - 11th May 2000 - Back to News

Roadies is a valuable program that was introduced in 1995 for teenagers with disabilities.

The program offers a chance to go on fun day trips and overnight camps, as well as provide a buddy for each participant. These buddies attend the Roadies activities to give friendship, support and understanding.

Participants come from central, west and south shires, and activities include horse riding, sailing and bowling. In the past, Roadies have been on excursions to: - Melbourne Zoo - Gumbuya Park - Phillip Island

Roadies runs largely on a base of dedicated volunteers to assist in making the world a better place for the disabled youth in our area. If you are interested in participating in the Roadies program and are looking to be involved, call Gemma Hearnes @ Interchange on 51 221 025, or e-mail interway@sympac.com.au
