PENDLEBURY selected for 3rd Australian Youth Olympic Festival with MOWBRAY named as Head CoachSale Sonics' player Scott Pendlebury has been selected to compete at the 3rd Australian Youth Olympic Festival with David Mowbray (Sale Sonics CBC Men's Head Coach) being named as Head Coach for the Australian contingent. By KAREN CASHMAN - 8th October 2004 - Back to News David Mowbray, Head Coach of the Sale Sonics CBC men's team has yet another "feather to add to his cap". David has been named as the Head Coach for the Australian team, who will compete in the 3rd Youth Festival event in Sydney, during the last week in january 2005.
Scott Pendlebury, also adding "feathers to his cap", has been named in that Australian Team.
The competition will be a four nation tournament being held in Sydney from 18 to 23 January 2005.
Teams from Australia, China, New Zealand, and a combined team from the Oceania region, will be displaying their talents over the 5 days.
Prior to the Festival, David and Scott will be attending a camp being held at the Australian Institute of Sport from the 13th January 2005 to the 18th January.
"Basketball is the only team event" says David. "All other events are individual sports".
The Australian Team consists of 10 players, coming from the All Australian Team. The All Australian Team is made up from players who competed in the U18 Nationals.
