Baby Bag LaunchWellington Working Together recently celebrated the launch of the Baby Bag information kit. By Wellington Shire Council - 1st August 2006 - Back to News Wellington Working Together, a partnership formed to achieve the best possible outcomes for the health, development, learning, safety and wellbeing of children, young people and their families across Wellington, recently celebrated the launch of the Baby Bag information kit.
The information kit was originally a project of Best Start Wellington, a group which has now expanded into Wellington Working Together.
Wellington Shire Council representative for Wellington Working Together Glenys Butler said the bag is a valuable resource for new parents.
"The bag contains a children’s book, information to parents about literacy and early learning, important local information and contacts, all things that we thought would be useful to new parents" said Mrs Butler.
Wellington Working Together is partnership between agencies and networks including parents, local government, health services, children’s and family support services, education services and community organisations that provide support and assistance to new parents.
The bag will be available to all parents in the Wellington Shire at their baby’s first immunisation.
"The Baby Bag information kit was initially a one-off project but thankfully the Sale Central Rotary Club will work with the Wellington Shire Council Library Service to ensure that the Baby Bag Information kit project continues into the future" said Mrs Butler.
Parents of babies who have already been immunised this year can pick up their bag from their local library.
