$15,000 For Toongabbie Beautification Works Three small infrastructure improvement projects in Toongabbie are being supported with a $15,000 Victorian Government grant announced today by Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe. By Russell Northe - 29th August 2011 - Back to News Mr Northe said the projects, which were a Coalition election commitment, would help Toongabbie promote itself as a destination to visitors.
¡§This is particularly in light of the Government¡¦s commitment to assist in the completion of the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail which will benefit Toongabbie and many other small communities along the Trail,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
The three Toongabbie projects to benefit from this recent $15,000 funding commitment include:
„h Relocating the visitor information gazebo to the Village Green with new signage, to ensure greater visibility and patronage;
„h Landscaping works at the Village Green, including gardening and bollards; and
„h Landscaping and drainage works at the Toongabbie CFA Shed.
¡§The Toongabbie community is blessed to have dedicated and hard working community members who, prior to the 2010 election, raised with me the necessity to undertake these important works that would improve not only the towns¡¦ amenity but the visitor experience,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
¡§I am therefore thrilled to be able to deliver on our Governments commitment to assist the Toongabbie community in this regard.¡¨
Mr Northe said the need to improve liveability and attract visitors through the improvement of public facilities is outlined as a key priority in the Toongabbie Township Community Action Plan.
¡§These initiatives will contribute to economic renewal in the town by helping promote Toongabbie as a destination, particularly following the completion of the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
¡§The projects will also encourage drive-through traffic to stop in the township and spend money at local businesses.
¡§It will also provide local community members with a meeting place, helping build community pride and cohesion within the town.¡¨
Mr Northe said Victorian Coalition Government funding for the project would be provided to Latrobe City Council to advance these three key projects.
