SALE SONICS are back on the court in CBC CompetitionSale Amateur Basketball Association (SABA) will again enter a Sale Sonics Men's and Women's team into the Country Basketball Conference competition By Danial Boyce - 7th September 2004 - Back to News The competition runs from October to February and Sale will compete against teams from Traralgon, Westernport, Southern Peninsula, Warragul, Moe, Morwell, Bairnsdale and Korumburra.
With the season beginning in October, plans to fill a side have begun, although neither the men's nor women's teams have been assigned a coach for the season.
Trevor Holmes has begun pre-season training for the Sale women's team and the Sale men's assistant coach Danial Boyce will handle training for the men's team until the coaches have been named.
Open training sessions will be held. Assistant coach Danial Boyce said any interested players should attend.
"At this stage we will be running simple scrimmage sessions and anyone interested in playing for the team, those simply wanting to get fit or try to develop their playing skills, everyone with a love for basketball and hopefully a commitment to representing their town and the SABA is welcome", he said.
Men's open training will be held on Friday September 10 from 6.30pm at the OA Ruff Stadium.
