A Night With Our StarsWhat: Premier screening of nine mini-documentaries filmed by Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Bass Coast By Bass Coast - 1st March 2012 - Back to News When: Friday 2 March 2012.
Doors open at 6.30pm Formal speeches at 7.00pm followed by the screening of the films The total screening time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Where: Wonthaggi Union Theatre, Graham Street Wonthaggi
Who: Executive producers from ACMI; Hon. Ken Smith MLA; Mayor, Cr. Veronica Dowman; participants appearing in the documentaries
Why: Part of a regional filming project by ACMI to record Australian identity. Two film crews from ACMI spent five days in December 2011 shooting footage for these mini-documentaries in nine separate locations, including Grantville, Bass, Corinella, Inverloch and sections of Phillip Island.
The nine unique and high quality mini-documentaries showcase and celebrate local stories and capture oral history and the remarkable people who live here.
The selections of short films are: Island Surfboards, DAK (David Alexander Kopelman), Community Banking in Bass Coast, The Kernot-Grantville CFA Fire Truck, Saving the Corinella Jetty, The Ripple and The Rocket Shed, Swell Mamas, Bass Valley Community Centre, Inverloch Settlement Soccer Group.
