The passage of the bill is expected to give some certainty to universities for their long-term planning and for Gippsland Campus should result in additional places in high-demand courses such as nursing and education. It was also good news--and critical to the passage of the bill-- that the government removed the link between $404 million in funding and industrial relations reforms.
‘Critical upward feedback in organisations: How management behaviour distorts organisational behaviour’ is the title of the presentation by Professor Dennis Tourish at the Business and Economics Research Seminar on Tuesday, December 9 at 1pm in the Business & Economics conference room. Professor Tourish is currently Professor of Communication at the Aberdeen Business School, Scotland and has published over 50 journal articles and several books in organisation communication and exploring management communication issues. He has worked in both the private and public sectors advising on communication strategies and conducting workshops for managers and staff. ‘Modernisation of Government: The Private Finance Initiative and the problem of infrastructure investment in the UK National Health Service’ is the title of the School of Business & Economics Research Seminar to be presented by Professor Jane Broadbent and Professor Richard Laughlin on Thursday, December 11 at 1pm in the Business & Economics conference room. Dr Justen O’Connor (Faculty of Education – Gippsland) and Terry Bowles (Faculty of Education – Clayton) have been awarded a Future Directions Program grant from the Minister for Sport and Recreation Victoria valued at $30,000.
