Neerim South hosts the Neerim Bower Sculpture Exhibition, themed 'Free as a Bird,' showcasing sculptures and a live mural by artist Melanie Caple, fostering a vibrant artistic atmosphere.
Head to Neerim South to celebrate Gippsland art, with a flock of spectacular sculptures and the live creation of a brand-new mural. For two weeks in February, Neerim South plays host to the fourth Neerim Bower Sculpture Exhibition, a celebration of art and brings this cultural village to life. This year's theme is 'Free as a Bird', drawing inspiration from the majestic Neerim Bower sculpture that welcomes visitors to town.
Neerim South buzzes with sculptures across streets and shops, featuring bird-inspired artistry, alongside a live mural by Melanie Caple
Art extravaganza unfolds
During the festival, the town of Neerim South becomes a nest of activity (see what we did there?!), with sculptures popping up on streets and in shop windows. Expect to see stunning recreations of flight, metallic murmurings, and abstract wings, all made by skilled sculptural artists with a deep appreciation for birdlife.
But sculptures aren't the only artworks on display during the festival. A mural by celebrated Gippsland artist Melanie Caple will be painted live on the IGA supermarket's south wall in an interactive art experience. Visitors are encouraged to watch the artistic process as the mural comes to life.
