Spring into Spring: Getting your fitness back on
track!
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and getting out of bed is
getting a bit easier...yes it’s spring time. As you start thawing out of your
winter haze now is the perfect time to kick start your health and fitness goals
and get that summer booty.
Fitness Instructor Suzana Talevski, a former Korumburra and Leongatha resident, shares a few quick tips to get you on your way and moving today:
- Go shopping! Yes, that’s right shopping! Who said getting in shape was all
about hard work???? Buy a brand new exercise outfit, those hot runners who have
had your eye on, grab them. The better you feel the harder you will work. Just
make sure you get the right footwear for complete cushioning protection and
minimising injury.
- If you haven’t exercised for a while, buddy up with a trainer. A personal
trainer will make sure you reach your goals efficiently, effectively and will
push you a little bit harder when you feel like giving up or lacking motivation.
- Grab a buddy! Male it fun and get your best friend/s to train with you, this
could be a great catch up session with friends you don't usually get time to
catch up with.
- Make it fun. Try some new classes. Tone up with a Body Pump class, punch and
kick your worries away with Body Attack, kick your blues away with Body Attack
or dance the calories away with a Zumba class...the possibilities are endless!!
- Get outside and enjoy the sun. Enjoy a bike, walk your dog, throw the
Frisbee around, jog, it doesn’t matter....just move...and make it fun!!!
- Don't forget what you eat is also going to have an impact on your spring
fitness goals, Monitor your food intake and be mindful of what you are
consuming.
- And lastly but just as importantly drink lots of water. As the weather heats
up its even more important to keep hydrated. Save calories by replacing that
soft drink or fruit juice by water. Your body will thank you.
