Sheridan Bond announced as The Nationals’ candidate for MorwellPreselected candidate for Morwell for November’s state election. By Portal Admin - 1st April 2018 - Back to News The Nationals have preselected Sheridan Bond as their candidate for Morwell in this November’s state election.
Ms Bond was selected from a field of four candidates in a grass-roots preselection on Saturday.
"Sheridan is a hard-working, well-known local with deep roots in the Latrobe Valley community. She has demonstrated her passion for the Valley over many years and will make an outstanding Member of Parliament if elected in November", said Neil Pankhurst, The Nationals State President.
"Our members elected Sheridan in a close preselection against three other top-class candidates and the strength of the field demonstrates the depth of our Party in the local community," Mr Pankhurst said.
The Nationals candidate for Morwell Sheridan Bond said she would be campaigning on jobs and badly-needed investment for the Valley.
"I am honoured to be endorsed as our candidate. I was born and breed in the Latrobe Valley and I understand both the challenges, but more importantly the opportunities, facing our community.
"I’ve worked hard in my community for many years and I know we need a local MP who will stand up and be counted when it comes to protecting local jobs and industry. Make no mistake, our key industries such as power generation, timber and Australian Paper are under siege from city-based forces and I will be working hard to protect them.
"That’s why I’m so pleased that The Nationals are working to support a new high-efficiency, low emissions power station in the Valley to provide local jobs and reliable, affordable power for Victorians.
"The Latrobe Valley has been let down by the policies of Daniel Andrews’ city-centric Labor Government. Only The Nationals, as part of a Coalition Government, can deliver the policies that will allow the Latrobe Valley to grow and prosper.
"I am looking forward to getting out and about, and meeting as many people as possible over the eight months."
Ms Bond lives in Traralgon, currently works as administration manager with well-known family business Aygee Gippsland distributors and served on Latrobe City Council from 2003 to 2005.
The state election will be held on Saturday 24 November 2018.
