The exhibition ‘Blooming colour’ explores the magnificence and colour of flowers through the use of watercolour and acrylic ink. The flowers represented include roses, irises and pansies.

Latrobe Regional Gallery director, Louise Tegart, said the flowers are gorgeously depicted in the height of bloom and will surprise the viewer with their vibrancy and beauty.

"Esther Jago has always had a keen interest in art and after retirement has undertaken various art courses including studying at East Gippsland TAFE and Briagolong School of Fine Art. She has had several exhibitions which include five solo and one joint exhibition, and many others shared with groups of fellow artists or students," Ms Tegart said.

"She is now a painter who is passionate about watercolour. She feels it is a very undervalued medium with tremendous possibility to reveal light and colour at their best. She also uses paint and mixed media for her works. Her works aim to share with the viewer the strong emotional responses to what she sees."

The exhibition continues until 28 February.

The Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. For further information about exhibitions at the gallery, please telephone 5128 5700. Admission is free.
