The official opening of the Spiritual Centre at the Gippsland Campus will be held on Thursday, September 23 at 1pm. The ‘sacred space’ is provided for all members of the University and wider Gippsland community and will be opened and blessed by representatives of the Anglican, Catholic, Uniting, Buddhist, Muslim and Christian faiths. The Chaplaincy at the Gippsland Campus is funded by the Anglican, Uniting and Catholic Churches with administration support from the University.

‘Sex, Drugs & Rock’n Roll:Our race to cure death!!’ is the title of the presentation at the Gippsland Campus on Thursday, September 23 at 1pm by Peter Simpson, Director of Business Development & Licensing at Norwood Abbey Ltd. Mr Simpson has had a very colourful career with highlights including the formulation, testing, registration and initial marketing of over 100 different generic injectable drugs.

Ms Carmel O’Keeffe, ABC journalist will be speaking to Gippsland Campus journalism students on Thursday, September 23 at 2pm. Ms O’Keeffe will be talking about the ABC Online website, how to apply for positions in the media and also give an insight into life as an ABC journalist.

Vaughan Higgins, lecturer at the Gippsland Campus will be presenting ‘Governing Agriculture through the Managerial Capacities of Farmers:The Role of Calculation’ at the School of Humanities, Communications and Social Sciences Seminar on Thursday, September 23 at 1pm.

John Fascio a graduate of Monash University Gippsland Campus is this year’s winner of the VicRoads Young Professional Engineer Award. John is a Civil Engineer and Engineering Consultant with WBM Pty Ltd, Morwell and contributed significantly to the Regional Information System (RIS) project which involves the sharing of regional-specific information to promote economic, social and environmental outcomes within Gippsland. John is also current Chairman of Engineers Australia, Gippsland Group. John will now proceed to the National Award which is to be announced in November.

Prospective students are invited to ‘Explore Monash’ at the Gippsland Campus on Tuesday, September 21. This is the final Explore for 2004 with students and family members taking the opportunity to hear about what the Gippsland Campus has to offer them by visiting the different faculties, meeting current students and visiting residences.
