Information on Electric Vehicle Facility Sought
Questions raised in Parliament regarding SEA Electric Vehicle Manufacturing facility.
Member for Morwell Russell Northe recently raised in Parliament the need for the State Government to release further information on the much touted SEA Electric Vehicle manufacturing facility proposed for the Latrobe Valley.
Almost twelve months ago the Premier announced that the Government was supporting SEA Electric in building a facility in the Latrobe Valley to assist with the manufacturing and assembling of electric delivery vans and mini buses, and that hundreds of jobs would be created.
The project has been widely supported by the community; however since the time of the Premier’s announcement very little information on the said project has been forthcoming to the Latrobe Valley community.
A response to Mr Northe’s question was provided late last week, but again any real information in regards to the location of the facility or how many local jobs would actually be created were missing in the Premier’s answer.
"At this stage the only answers we have received from the Government is that a site for this facility has still not been identified, leaving many to wonder if the facility will be operational by 2021", said Mr Northe
Mr Northe concluded that if the project has been delayed or that there won’t be hundreds of local jobs created, then the Government should simply communicate this with Latrobe Valley residents.
