Three interim CEOs appointed at Bass Coast Shire Council to ensure a smooth transition after Ali Wastie resignation
Bass Coast Shire Council appoints three experienced General Managers as interim CEOs in a rotational system after Ali Wastie's resignation.
Bass Coast Shire Council has appointed three senior leaders to share the role of interim Chief Executive Officer until a new permanent replacement is chosen following the resignation of Ali Wastie. Ms Wastie, who resigned last month to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer at the City of Greater Geelong, finishes at Bass Coast on 28 July. A recruitment agency will soon begin a formal process to determine a short list for her replacement before the end of the year.

Council met today and adopted a recommendation to appoint three experienced existing General Managers to rotate through the Chief Executive Officer role for eight weeks each. Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan said council was fortunate to have highly capable leaders within the organisation to ensure a steady transition, all of which have more than 15 years' local government and leadership experience. "This innovative interim solution reflects the agility of council's leadership and the shared goals of our executives."

General Manager Resilient Communities (Interim CEO, 18 Nov - 12 Jan) with current areas of council responsibility:
- Infrastructure Maintenance (Roads, Open Space and Buildings)
- Climate and Sustainability (incl Waste Services)
- Community Safety and Wellbeing (incl Local Laws)
