Gippsland families and businesses encouraged by Danny O'Brien to have their say on cost of living in regional Victoria
Danny O'Brien, Member for Gippsland South, initiates a survey to gauge the impact of rising living costs on regional Victorians due to increased taxes. He criticises the Andrews Labor government for broken promises and declining services.
As the cost-of-living continues to rise for many Gippslanders, The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien is launching a survey that invites regional Victorians to have their say. Mr O'Brien said he hopes that the survey will provide a snapshot of how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting regional households and businesses. "This survey is a series of short questions designed to capture exactly how hardworking Gippslanders are managing financially at the moment," Mr O'Brien said.
Increasing taxes imposed by the Andrews Labor government add to the financial strain on families and businesses in Gippsland South, exacerbated by the timber industry closure
Complete the survey
Mr O'Brien said, "As families and businesses across Gippsland South continue to be slugged by the Andrews Labor government's growing list of taxes, it is evident that many are struggling to make ends meet. The government's closure of the native timber industry only compounds the problem for many families. The results of this survey will be used to show Daniel Andrews just how damaging his string of new taxes are on Gippsland South families and businesses."
Mr O'Brien highlighted that the Andrews Labor government is on the cusp of introducing its 50th tax, despite Daniel Andrews telling Victorians he had no intention of raising taxes at all. "These new taxes represent another broken promise in a long string of letdowns and as fees and charges continue to soar, it is becoming more difficult to put food on the table.
"We are paying more in taxes and charges, but are left with poor government services, a crumbling regional road network and growing medical wait lists," he said. Mr O'Brien said families and businesses are encouraged to complete the survey, which will only take a few minutes of your time, at Cost of living survey website.
