Resilience workshops for farmiers on 22 and 24 November 2023 from Food and Fibre Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire Council

Bass Coast Shire Council and Food and Fibre Gippsland are delivering workshops to organisations who support our farming community. Participants will gain knowledge and insight around resilient farming practices, while hearing from guest speakers and industry experts about how their organisation can better understand the challenges within farming communities. Specific local education will be provided in relation to resilient agricultural practices, both off-farm and on-farm.

There are three workshops tailored to specific sectors.
- Financial services sector - Wednesday 22 November 9.00am - 12.00pm - Newhaven VIC meeting room
- Community organisations - Wednesday 22 November 1.00pm - 4.00pm - Newhaven VIC meeting room
- Health based organisations - Friday 24 November 9.00am - 12.00 pm - Old Wonthaggi Post Office meeting room
Registration is free and essential. Places are limited - book now to secure your ticket! This course is just one component of a larger program of works Bass Coast Shire Council are delivering which is funded by the Department of Health. The broader program is focused on building resilience and wellbeing of the farming community across Bass Coast. It includes three core elements that aim to complement each other:
- Small Agribusiness and Farming Diversity and Resilience Program
- Mental Health First Aid course tailored to farming communities
- Program in partnership with Food & Fibre Gippsland to better support existing health and agribusiness support networks
There are limited tickets available for the two-day Mental Health First Aid MHFA workshop, which will be running over Thursday 7 December and Friday 8 December. Tickets are available at a subsidised rate of $20. For further information please contact the Business Development team.
