New water fountains install at Sarsfield Recreation Reserve by East Gippsland Water
Users of Sarsfield Recreation Reserve, including their pets, are amongst the latest to benefit from a purpose-built permanent water refill station provided jointly by East Gippsland Water and East Gippsland Shire Council.
Free to use, the refill station - installed following a compelling request from the Sarsfield Recreation Reserve Committee - comes equipped with a touch sensitive bubble-tap, a drink bottle filling point and a dog bowl. It is located close to the sports oval and recreation hall and will form part of the proposed community space plan at the reserve.

More accessible tap water
Many stand to benefit from the new facility including players of all ages participating in the regular cricket competitions hosted by the reserve, as well as walkers and cyclists using the nearby walking trail.
David Radford, Executive Manager of Customer, Community & Communications, said East Gippsland Water was proud to be contributing to active, healthy communities throughout the region. "By installing water refill stations in recreational areas, we are making tap water even more accessible and encouraging people to reuse and refill their drink bottles."
"We are glad to be working with community groups and East Gippsland Shire Council to deliver these water fountains, which also supports the Choose Tap movement to create better outcomes for the environment and communities."
Requesting for consideration
In addition to Sarsfield, new refill stations have also just been installed at Lorimer Drive in Eastwood and the Bairnsdale Library forecourt. East Gippsland Water has installed ten fountains since 2018.
Community groups who have identified a site that may benefit from the installation of a hydration station are invited to contact East Gippsland Water to discuss their proposed location further and to submit a formal request for consideration.
