Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club launches trial of Public Rescue Equipment Stations on 22 December 2024
Life Saving Victoria and Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club will trial six Public Rescue Equipment Stations to reduce drownings. These stations will assist bystanders in emergencies and improve response times.
Life Saving Victoria and Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club will begin a trial of Public Rescue Equipment (PRE) Stations in a Victorian-first initiative to reduce drownings at high-risk beaches and waterways.
Six stations will be installed with rescue tubes, emergency buttons, distress guides, location markers, and language support QR codes
Beach safety boost
A total of six stations will be installed as part of the trial. They will be fitted with a lifesaving rescue tube, an emergency call button to contact 000, a guide to safely helping someone in distress, location marker codes for emergency service navigation and a QR code for language support. The stations are designed to support bystanders assisting in an emergency and improve emergency response times in a bid to prevent fatal incidents at these black spot beaches.
