Baw Baw Shire Council meeting snapshot - 9 March 2022
To keep our community up to date with key council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from council's Wednesday 9 March council meeting.
For the community infrastructure, the Port Phillip and Westernport Regional Catchment Strategy, council endorsed being listed as a partner organisation in the Port Phillip and Westernport Regional Catchment Strategy (2021-2027). Speed Cushions on Melaleuca Drive, Trafalgar East.
Council moved to:
- Note the outcomes of the additional traffic counts on Melaleuca Drive
- Endorse the application of a solid centre line treatment (with raised reflective pavement markers) on Melaleuca Drive as an alternative to the originally proposed speed cushion installation
Note that any remaining budget for the speed cushion project on Melaleuca Drive will be returned as savings to the Capital Works Program. Notify the lead petitioner (of the petition tabled at the 13 October 2021 council meeting) in writing of council's decision in relation to the petition decision.
Council Meetings are at the West Gippsland Arts Centre (Fountain Room) at 5:30pm on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month
Strategy and performance
For the mid year budget review 2021/22, council noted the Mid-Year Budget Review 2021/22. As well as for the rural councils Victoria membership, council moved to cease membership with Rural Councils Victoria and provide written correspondence form the Chief Executive Officer to Rural Councils Victoria advising them of this decision.
Mayoral minute
Deputy Mayor, Cr McCabe, used her Mayoral Minute to acknowledge the International Women's Day event on Tuesday evening, and said it was fair to say the entire audience felt inspired to work together to break the bias.
Cr McCabe thanked council Officers and the West Gippsland Arts Centre team for their work and again congratulated the five athletes inducted to the Sporting Walk of Fame in an earlier ceremony.
