Major boost to Wellington Shire economy from Port of Sale redevelopment and Princes Highway upgrades emphasised by Darren Chester
Darren Chester highlights collaborative efforts with Wellington Shire Council to enhance York St, Foster St, and the Port of Sale, attributing their success to federal funding and their positive impact on the community's well-being.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says the redevelopment of the Port of Sale and the Princes Highway upgrades will deliver long term social and economic benefits. Mr Chester said the multi-million dollar improvements to York St and Foster St, plus the Port of Sale facelift would encourage more visitors to take a break in Sale.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says the redevelopment of infrastructure in Sale will deliver long term social and economic benefits
Economic and safety benefits
Mr Chester said, "I have no doubt the improvement to the streetscape along with the redeveloped Port of Sale precinct will encourage the travelling public to take a break in town. Providing high quality facilities and making it easier for visitors to explore the township will be good for the economy and good for road safety."
Mr Chester said he was pleased to see progress on the Wellington Shire Council project at the Port of Sale which was part of a bigger package of works. "I worked closely with Council senior staff a few years ago on a multi-faceted plan to give York St and Foster St a facelift, redevelop the Port of Sale, and install new walking tracks and boardwalks through the Sale Common," he said.
Infrastructure boost in Sale
Mr Chester added, "With the previous federal government providing funding for the road works, the Council was able to free up funds to bring forward these additional major infrastructure projects which will make a huge difference for locals and visitors."
"The historic port precinct has often been undersold in Sale but with all of the work the Shire is undertaking, it's becoming more popular which is great for visitors and encourages locals to enjoy an active lifestyle," Mr Chester said.
