To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans, here is a snapshot summary from Council's Wednesday 28 July ordinary meeting.
West Gippsland Libraries Transition to a Not-For-Profit Entity - Council having considered the recommendations from the Board of West Gippsland Library Corporation (WGRLC) and the requirement to restructure regional library corporations as a result of the Local Government Act 2020 (Vic) (2020 Act) resolved to transition West Gippsland Libraries to a Not-For-Profit entity per a number of conditions in the report.

Draft RV Strategy 2021-2024
Council adopted the recreational vehicle (RV) Strategy 2021-2024 and will refer $100,000 to implement year one of the said strategy to the 2021/22 midyear budget review for consideration.
Organisational excellence
Community Vision and Council Plan 2021-2025, Long Term Finance Plan 2021/22-2030/31. Council received the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2021 - 2025, Long Term Financial Plan 2021/22 - 2030/31 from the community panel. Council moved to:
- Approve in principle the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2021 - 2025, Long Term Financial Plan 2021/22 - 2030/31
- Place the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2021 - 2025, Long Term Financial Plan 2021/22 - 2030/31 on public exhibition
- Invite submissions until close of business Friday 20 August 2021
Council acknowledged and thanked the panel for their draft and their work to develop the Community Vision.
General business motion
Councillor McCabe raised a general business motion requesting that Council receive a report regarding options for a new permanent library to in Trafalgar. Councillor Cook, Councillor Wallace and Cr Leaney also spoke to this motion.
Councillor Kostos moved a bereavement motion acknowledging the recent passing of Beryl Tyson. Beryl was an active member of the community in Drouin, volunteering on many committees. Council will write a letter of condolence to her family.
Limiting attendance
In line with COVID-19 restrictions across Victoria, council will be limiting attendance of its Council meetings. Commencing with the Wednesday 11 August 2021 council meeting:
- Only essential officers and Councillors will attend Council Meetings
- There will be no public access/gallery attendance at Council Meetings
Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing. Theagenda for the next meeting for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
