Encouraging community growth
Cr Bye said, "Thank you to my fellow councillors and the Wellington community for their support during my first mayoral term. I have had a wonderful and busy first term as Mayor, having particularly enjoyed the many opportunities to get out and about to celebrate local events that have been on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I am looking forward to focusing on housing, investment and infrastructure in my second term to encourage growth in our community."
Deputy Mayor John Tatterson was elected to Council in 2020 and hails from Stratford where he and his wife Sue raised their family. Along with Cr Bye, Cr Tatterson has a strong community connection. A 40-year career working in local government and avid supporter of community sport provides a solid foundation to take on the next year as Deputy Mayor of Wellington Shire.
Next phase of the journey
Cr Tatterson thanked outgoing Deputy Mayor Cr Marcus McKenzie and said he was looking forward to the next phase of his journey as a Wellington Shire councillor. "Thank you to my fellow councillors, CEO David Morcom and senior officers for their support over the last 12 months. We all work really well together, and it is a privilege to be doing such important work for our community."
"I am looking forward to getting to work closely with the local community and feel privileged to be able to represent the ratepayers who voted for me 12 months ago."
"I am looking forward to a successful partnership with Cr Bye and my fellow councillors as we continue tackling issues that are important to our local communities." Cr Tatterson said.
