Applications for Baw Baw Shire Community Grants open until 28 February, schedule an appointment to prepare your submission!

Baw Baw Shire's Community Grants Round Two opens in February, offering up to $5,000 for community projects. Applications by Appointment are available until 28 February 2025.

Round Two of Baw Baw Shire Council's Community Grants program will open in early February so it's time to start preparing your applications! Applications by Appointment are now available. Applications by Appointment provide community groups the opportunity to meet with council to discuss their project idea to ensure it aligns with the grant guidelines.

Grants empower communities

The process also provides potential applicants with guidance on what to include in their application and clarity about the supporting documents which must be submitted reducing the likelihood of applications being incomplete or ineligible for assessment. Local community groups have from Monday 3 February until Friday 28 February 2025 to submit their applications, with successful groups announced in May.

Council's Community Grants program supports non-profit groups and organisations to undertake activities or make purchases that are for the benefit of the local community. The Community Projects funding supports the delivery of community events, projects, programs, environmental initiatives and equipment purchases. Grants of up to $5,000 are available.

In September 2024, council distributed more than $95,768 in Round One of Community Grant funding through the Community Projects category, supporting 25 non-profit organisations and groups in Baw Baw Shire.

Supporting community growth

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Danny Goss said he was thrilled to support this program, which backed our local community groups and ensured they could deliver important programs and services across the Shire. "Our local community groups are the fabric of our Shire and this is one of many ways in which council supports them to continue their operations," he said. An example of some of the previously successfully funded community projects are listed below:

• Aus. Hair of the Dog Rescue - $5,000 for the purchase and hire of a 950 Series Arch and event timing services for the Barkin Mad Ultra Run
• Drouin Cricket Club - $4,090 for the purchase of a Frogbox video capture kit and streaming passes
• Drouin Men's Shed - $3,200 for construction of a concrete path from the shed to toilet
• Thorpdale Mechanics Institute Reserve - $4,993 for the purchase of labour and materials for repair and maintenance of the front entry area
• Yarragon Arts Council - $4,900 for performing artist fees for the Yarragon Studio Festival
