Bass Coast Shire International Women's Day, with keynote speaker Hacia Atherton on women in trades lunch on 7 March 2025
Join Bass Coast Shire International Women's Day lunch on 7 March, featuring Hacia Atherton on women in trades. Celebrate gender equality, hear inspiring stories, and support opportunities for women in underrepresented industries.
Celebrate International Women's Day 2025 with Bass Coast Shire Council at RACV Inverloch Resort on Friday, 7 March. Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead, will be hosting a lunch with keynote speaker Hacia Atherton.
'March Forward' highlights gender equality, focusing on Women in Trades. Hacia Atherton shares her journey overcoming barriers in male-dominated industries
March forward together
This year's theme, 'March Forward', highlights the importance of gender equality. The focus will be on Women in Trades. While the number of women active in the Victorian labour market continues to grow, they make up only 2% of the workers in Australian construction.
We must all support initiatives to ensure women can become fully qualified well-paid tradespeople. Our speaker, Hacia, founder of Empowered Women in Trades, will share her inspiring journey of resilience and breaking barriers in male-dominated fields.
Cr Halstead said, "Council is committed to creating opportunities for women in all industries, especially where they are underrepresented. This year's theme, 'March Forward', is a timely reminder that we must continuously look ahead and take action. Change is possible, and inspiring role models, like Hacia create the visibility we need to celebrate as a community."
