Meeniyan and district community engages with Danny O'Brien during mobile office visit
During his regular community engagement sessions in Meeniyan, Koonwarra, Dumbalk, and Mirboo, Mr. O'Brien actively listened to various concerns raised by constituents, including education, road conditions, duck hunting, and street safety.
The Meeniyan and district community came out in force to share its views with the local member on a recent mobile electorate office visit by The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien. Mr O'Brien held his regular community engagement sessions in Meeniyan, Koonwarra, Dumbalk and Mirboo with multiple people coming out to raise issues of concern with him.
Danny O'Brien also visited the Meeniyan Men's Shed and had an engaging discussion on civics with students from Meeniyan Primary School, appreciating their thoughtful questions and concerns
Accessible community engagement
Mr O'Brien said, "It is really important as a rural MP to ensure that I'm out and about in your neighbourhood to make it easier for you to share your views with your local MP."
"These regular advertised mobile office visits to towns and communities in my electorate are on top of the day to day appointments. I have constituents but ensure everyone gets the chance to come and share their issues with me in their own community. Nothing beats a chat sitting on a chair or a log outside a town hall and this visit was no different," he said.
Community concerns addressed
Mr O'Brien said issues raised included education, the condition of local roads, duck hunting and street safety, with others just coming for a chat about politics and local issues. Mr O'Brien also visited Meeniyan Men's Shed and spoke to year five and six students at Meeniyan Primary School about civics and how government works.
"I was so impressed by the questions from the Meeniyan Primary School children who had methodically prepared and were very engaged in the issues. It's always great to hear the concerns of our local young people," Mr O'Brien said.
