Australian need to investigate persistent excess deaths and ensure justice as Lancet paper shows global increase in mortality post-Covid
Russell Broadbent, Independent Federal Member for Monash, highlights a Lancet article on global excess mortality post-Covid, urging analysis to address Australia's persistent excess deaths and ensure justice.
Hello, I'm Russell Broadbent, your Independent Federal Member for Monash. Today I want to talk about a recent article published in the Lancet - which is arguably one of the world's most well-known and respected medical journals. I've put a link to the article in the comments section.
Russell Broadbent as he discusses a Lancet article on post-Covid excess mortality globally, including in Australia, crucial for Health Ministers' attention
Global excess mortality
The article, titled 'Excess mortality in England post Covid-19 pandemic' talks about the alarming increase in excess deaths not only in the UK but in numerous countries around the world. One of those countries is Australia, so this article should be of interest to all of us - especially Health Ministers across the nation.
The article reports there has been an apparent excess of deaths that has emerged long after the pandemic peaks of 2020 and 2021, with the most disturbing aspect showing that the excess deaths were relatively greatest in younger age groups - not the elderly! Deaths were 15% higher than expected in 50-64 year olds and 11% higher for 25-29 year olds.
Cardiovascular epidemic analysis
When they looked at the causes for these excess deaths, topping the charts was cardiovascular diseases - disease of the heart. Deaths involving ischaemic heart disease were 44% higher than expected in the 50-64 age group. And significantly, 22% more deaths were happening in private homes - not in hospitals! Were these deaths 'sudden and unexpected?' The article concludes by calling for an analysis of these untimely deaths, so more might be prevented.
Meanwhile in Australia, our government is still refusing to investigate the causes of Australia's persistent excess deaths which began in 2021 and continued throughout 2022 and 2023. It is high time we perform our own analysis to get to the root cause of this alarming trend. And that's justice as I see it.

You may also be interested to know that the UK government has been urged to release data that may link the Covid vaccine to excess deaths, so why isn't our government investigating that possibility as well?
