Latrobe City secures $7.6M federal funding to support housing growth and jobs in Morwell
Latrobe City Council welcomes $7.6 million in federal funding for a sewer pump station, enabling 700 new homes and supporting 1,500 jobs in Morwell's industrial precinct. The project aligns with future development plans.
Latrobe City Council welcomes the federal government's $7.6 million funding contribution will facilitate the development of approximately 700 new homes in the Crinigan Road Development Plan area. The funding will allow Council to construct a sewer pump station in the Crinigan Road area of Morwell that will open up land for residential development.

Supporting Morwell growth
The new pumping station will also support the growth of the Morwell East Industrial precinct which has the potential to create over 1,500 jobs once fully developed. The funding is being provided through Stream Two of the federal government's Housing Support Programme of which Latrobe submitted a successful application.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman thanked the federal government for their investment. "Council wishes to thank the federal government and in particular the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and Arts for their commitment towards the Crinigan Road sewer pump station."
"This is an essential part of core infrastructure that will provide for a new development in Morwell as per our future planning and have a flow on effect for our industrial area. We look forward to having further discussions with the Department to understand the next steps for this funding and when the project can begin," said the Mayor.
