Baw Baw Shire Council secures $824,000 state government funding for road upgrades to Jacksons Track near Labertouche
Baw Baw Shire Council has secured $824,000 in State Government funding to carry out major road upgrades to Jacksons Track near Labertouche.
The Jacksons Track Road reconstruction project is part of the Victorian Government's $20 million AgriLinks Upgrade Program designed to support shovel-ready local road improvement projects across the State. The project will widen and reconstruct sections of Jacksons Track between Labertouche Road and Old Telegraph Road.
Baw Baw Shire Council is taking a more proactive approach to assessing roads and scheduling repairs, so you can expect to see more road repairs taking place across the shire
The road upgrades seek to promote an alternative tourism route from Melbourne to the northern area of the Shire and enhance the possibility of farm gate sales for businesses in the region. The total project is set to cost $1,523,000 with Council contributing $699,000 from the Road Reconstruction Program to fund the project. Project works are set to begin within the month with a conclusion date scheduled for April 2022 weather permitting.
Bringing significant road upgrades
Mayor Cr Danny Goss said, "Council is always keen to support projects that create safer and smoother roads for our community and provide better outcomes for our businesses. The Jacksons Track Road Reconstruction Project will bring significant road upgrades to benefit locals, businesses and tourists alike."
"It will enable more efficient and convenient options for travel to the northern area of the Shire and provide flow on benefits for agricultural, food and tourism sectors. Council wholeheartedly welcomes the State Government's funding support for this significant improvement to an important local road." Mayor Goss said.
