Baw Baw Shire Council meeting snapshot - Wednesday 26 February 2025

Baw Baw Shire Council reviewed planning permits, financial reports, governance policies, and new projects, including a mountain bike track and Trafalgar Business Centre retention. Meetings are public, live-streamed, and held twice monthly.

To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council's Wednesday 26 February Council Meeting.

Planning and development

Council moved to issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Planning Permit for planning application PLA0040/24 - 11 Sinclair Street, Drouin.

Strategy and performance

Baw Baw Shire Council Independent Review of Current and Future Financial Position Council noted the Independent Review of Council's Current and Future Financial Position, and the Financial Health Check completed in December 2024.

Q2 2024/25 Combined performance report

Council noted;

  • Quarterly Performance Report for Quarter 2 of 2024/25
  • Financial Report for Quarter 2 of 2024/25
  • Capital Works Program Report including additional projects and adjustments for Quarter 2 of 2024/25

Council moved to add the following projects and budget allocations totaling $75,000 to the Capital Works Program 2024/25:

  • 101409 Motorcycle Safety Improvements Old Sale Rd - $75,000

Governance and information

Delegated Committee Policy

Council adopted the revised Delegated Committee Policy.

Public Transparency Policy

Council moved an alternate recommendation to endorse the draft policy and place it on exhibition for community consultation from 5 March to 26 March 2025.

Governance Report 26 February 2025

Council noted the Governance Report for 26 February 2025, and adopted the revised schedule of Council Meeting dates for 2025.

Notices of motion

Concept options for a new mountain bike track in Drouin - Cr Lucas moved a Notice of Motion requesting a report be presented to Council in no later than 4 Council Meeting's time outlining high level options for a new mountain bike track in Drouin.

General business

General Business Motion

Interim CEO Cohen Van der Velde moved a CEO General Business Motion seeking Council endorsement for a grant application to help fund the delivery of a pavilion project at Western Park Oval 2.

General Business Motion

Cr Kingwill moved a General Business Motion requesting a report be presented to Council in no later than 4 Council Meetings time on retaining the Trafalgar Business Centre.

Baw Baw Shire Council Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. Council Meetings will commence at 5:30pm on the second Wednesday of the month, and 1:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

All Council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the Council website for viewing. The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
